What are Community Guidelines ⏎

Kick is a rapidly growing live-streaming platform that encourages Creators to express themselves freely and produce outstanding content suitable for a thoughtful and mature audience. At Kick, we value the importance of constructive dialogue over knee-jerk reactions often associated with 'cancel culture'. Still, we also firmly recognize that free speech should not be a shield for hate speech. ⏎

At Kick, we aim to be a creator led platform. We support creators expressing themselves freely so they can stream entertaining and engaging content. To stay within the boundaries outlined in our Terms of Service we have developed these Community Guidelines which set out expectations while interacting with our service. ⏎

Instead of blanket punitive measures that may foster resentment, we believe in a reformative approach that involves working collaboratively with our Creators. We engage in open discussions about their actions, intent, and potential remediation to foster elevated standards, respect, and trust within our community. Our focus is long-term solutions that address root issues and promote positive change. ⏎

These Community Guidelines are primarily for the benefit of creators, however, moderators and chatters should fundamentally behave in line with these standards. Violations of these Community Guidelines are, by default, a violation of our Terms of Service and this can lead to streaming potentially harmful content. ⏎

Some Creators may be too loud, annoying, or even offensive to your tastes. In such instances, we encourage you to exercise your agency by navigating away from their links and exploring alternative categories and Creator styles. Simultaneously, as a Creator, it's vital to focus on your unique style and areas of expertise without attempting to impose your preferences on others or weaponize communities against each other. Our goal at Kick is to foster an atmosphere of enjoyment and mutual respect. ⏎

We aim to create an environment where everyone can engage with our platform to suit their preferences and we encourage viewers to navigate away from any content or interactions which do not align with their personal values. ⏎

We aspire for all users to discover or even create their own distinct Kick communities, contributing to the growth and evolution of the live-streaming space. Just as television supplanted radio and video-on-demand services superseded the cable box, we at Kick believe that live-streaming represents the future of consumed media. In essence, you, the viewers and Creators, are actively shaping Kick's future through your engagement, debates, content creation, learning experiences, and, above all, your respect for diverse perspectives and lifestyles. ⏎

Moderator considerations ⏎

At Kick, we prioritize privacy and safety for all members, regardless of their community affiliation. That's why we've made the 'Report' button accessible to every Creator, Moderator, User, and Lurker. This feature empowers you to actively contribute to maintaining Kick's secure and respectful environment by reporting any behaviour that violates policy or compromises user safety. If you encounter a user engaging in harassment, hate speech, or other conduct that goes against our community guidelines, please don't hesitate to use the 'Report' button. Your reports are vital in alerting our moderation team to address such issues promptly. We take all reports seriously and investigate them thoroughly to ensure that Kick remains a welcoming and secure platform for all. ⏎

Live streaming, by its nature, is unpredictable. While it's impossible to foresee every outcome, there are several key factors that can lead to adverse content unfolding. ⏎

Each Kick community has its unique vibe and set of community rules. Please respect and adhere to the rules of the communities you choose to join and avoid disrupting the communities of others. Channel moderators are responsible for ensuring a positive atmosphere; if someone's behaviour appears disruptive, they may ask that individual to leave. We understand that such situations can be frustrating. If you find yourself in this position, we kindly request that you take a moment to reflect on your actions rather than harass the community that asked you to leave. It's an opportunity to keep the communities respectful and enjoyable. ⏎

Our moderation team follows a structured approach to evaluating reported content, considering the full context, including the creator’s reasonable expectations, involvement and reaction alongside the potential risks and outcomes of streams. They carefully assess these factors to determine whether a violation of our Terms of Service has occurred and to what extent. ⏎

Occasionally, Kick can get rowdy, reflecting the lively and spontaneous nature of our live-streaming community. If you insist on having total control over your environment at all times, you will likely have a tough time on Kick. We believe in fostering an environment where everyone can freely express themselves while respecting others. We're committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all, and we value your input in this journey together. As a new platform, we anticipate changing our guidelines based on your feedback and our collective efforts to maintain a respectful, diverse, and dynamic community. Please review our Guidelines below. These apply to the audio, vision, visual imagery, comments, GIFs and all other forms of content and communication which may be consumed from viewing or streaming on our platform. They apply to everyone on Kick and are diligently enforced by our dedicated Staff Moderators. ⏎

Full Context ⏎

Not all situations are the same, context can influence how content is perceived. There can be situations where a scenario can be accepted as true, however, different moderation decisions will result based on the full context of reported content. Whether a creator shows positive or negative intentions, plays minor or major involvement in an incident, their differing reactions to issues and the ranging severity of issues will all influence content moderation. Creators should consider their past issues, the tone of their stream and any external factors impacting their content. ⏎

Intent ⏎

The intent of a creator is difficult to assess, however, there are certain indicators that indicate whether streams are responsibly crafted, aiming for entertainment, education or positive engagement rather than sensationalism or exploitation. When evaluating whether content violates these Guidelines, moderators consider if harmful situations could have been reasonably anticipated. ⏎

Involvement ⏎

The level of a streamer’s involvement in harmful content can vary widely, ranging from negligence to direct engagement in toxic behaviour. For instance, allowing harmful content to be streamed unintentionally due to lack of oversight, constitutes negligence. On the other hand, being actively involved in the participation of content which contravenes these Guidelines is more severe. ⏎

Reaction ⏎

During a live stream, decisions made in the moment can contribute to or help mitigate harmful situations. Creators should make responsible choices while reacting as events unfold. In high risk situations, a prompt reaction may be the difference between preventing a problem, containing an issue or allowing it to escalate. Creators should remain vigilant and consider reactions to unexpected circumstances as quick responses, such as averting the camera, muting inappropriate audio or switching to a neutral screen, can help prevent or reduce streaming harmful material. ⏎

Outcome ⏎

The outcome of actions and output of content is considered when assessing content. Moderators assess what actually transpired and was freely displayed for consumption when considering whether there has been a breach of these Guidelines. Creators are responsible for the content they create and repeated violations can lead to more severe penalties. ⏎

Across all content themes there are various levels of risk which should be considered. By understanding and accounting for low, moderate and high risk levels, creators can help ensure their content remains in line with platform Guidelines. Proactive planning, research, responsible decision-making and quick reactions all contribute to assessment of reported content by moderators. Guideline 1 ⏎

Nudity ⏎

Sexual Conduct ⏎

While we encourage creative and engaging content, we have strict guidelines regarding nudity and sexually explicit material. Nudity is strictly prohibited in live streams to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all viewers. However, suggestive content that remains within the boundaries of tastefulness and respect is permitted. Remember, our goal is to foster a positive and inclusive community, so please be mindful of the impact your content may have on a diverse audience. ⏎

We allow sexually suggestive expressions which are lighthearted but we will take action if content is unfiltered and becomes excessively erotic. Consenting adult creators may stream content with sexually suggestive themes provided it remains appropriate for their audience and does not include nudity, sexual acts or overly sexual elements. ⏎

Pools, VR Chat, Body Art, OnlyFans creators should be mindful of body display. The entirety of breasts must not be shown, with the nipples of breasts always covered. Pasties are permitted during streams involving body-art so long as artwork is progressing. Genitals must always be completely covered. ⏎

Be mindful of certain camera angles, including extreme close-ups featuring grinding motions, over-caressing of genitals, and overly suggestive depictions of oral, anal, and vaginal activities, as well as the expulsion of sexual bodily fluids. ⏎

Content where sexual expression is displayed on your channel must be age-restricted with an 18+ label applied and streams where sexual themes are the primary focus must be placed in our Pools, Hot Tubs & Bikinis category. ⏎

Continuous overt sexual movements should be avoided. Moderators may request adjustments to your content or behaviour to align with these guidelines. Failure to comply with such requests may result in enforcement actions on your channel to ensure a respectful and appropriate environment for all our users and creators. ⏎

Our moderation team may request adjustments to content and prompt adherence rather than blatant disregard will help avoid infractions. ⏎

Movements, camera angles and attire for VR avatars will be subject to the same standards as real world content. ⏎

We do not permit explicit sexual content such as prolonged or overly sexual movements. Display of private body parts including uncovered breasts with exposed nipples or intimate areas is prohibited. Creators should be mindful of camera angles and avoid close-ups of sensitive areas. ⏎

The use of pasties during body-art streams is allowed, provided the artwork is actively progressing. We permit links and banners to legal sites with sexual themes while streaming in the "Pools, Hot Tubs & Bikinis" category. ⏎

Guideline 2 ⏎

Pornography ⏎

There is no pornography allowed on Kick. Kick prohibits the creation or sharing of any pornographic material. There is to be no solicitation or promise of reward for sexual services. ⏎

Guideline 3 ⏎

Protection of Minors ⏎

Kick prohibits content that sexually exploits or endangers children. To maintain a safe environment for minors, we enforce the following: ⏎

Kick is fully committed to the protection of minors. We prohibit content that endangers or exploits children and our users must always respect the privacy and safety of minors. We have a strict, zero-tolerance policy against Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). ⏎

Age Restriction. Users must be atleast 13 years of age or of the age to provide digital consent in their respective State, Territory or Region. ⏎

It is essential to ensure that your streams and interactions are free from any content which could be exploitative of minors or promotes child exploitation. This includes refraining from requesting, creating, sharing or distributing any inappropriate and illegal material. You should avoid engaging in any inappropriate behavior or discussions with minors and never request or share any personal or identifiable information of minors. ⏎

Adult creators must not stream content of users under 18 who are not in the immediate presence of a parent or legal guardian. Users must respect the privacy and safety of minors. ⏎

We understand that parents or legal guardians may wish to include their children in streams, responsible supervision should be exercised ensuring their child's participation is safe, appropriate and respectful. ⏎

We have a strict, zero-tolerance policy regarding the creation or production of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). ⏎

We want to emphasize there can be real life severe consequences for any illegal activity involving minors and we will cooperate with law enforcement authorities and regulators, as required. ⏎

Examples of CSAM-related violations and other prohibited content include: ⏎

Requesting, creating, sharing or distributing sexualised content involving minors. ⏎

Inappropriate behaviour, engaging in inappropriate discussions or activities with minors. ⏎

Requesting and/or sharing any personal and/or identifiable information of a minor. ⏎

Promoting or endorsing content that exploits children in any way. ⏎

Our commitment is to provide a secure and supportive community for all users, especially those who are vulnerable. Any actions that could harm a minor will not be tolerated. This extends to, but is not limited to, manipulation, exposure, sexualisation, gambling, violence, bullying, hate-speech or other reasons as outlined in these guidelines or applicable law which could harm a minor. ⏎

We understand that sometimes, parents or guardians may wish to include their children in their streams or content. Please exercise responsible parental supervision, ensuring your child's participation is safe, appropriate, and respectful. ⏎

We want to emphasize that there are real life severe consequences for any illegal activity involving minors. Kick proactively cooperates with law enforcement authorities and regulators to address such violations. ⏎

Guideline 4 ⏎

Hate-Speech ⏎

We are committed to fostering a diverse and respectful community. Encouraging or participating in bullying others under the guise of "just joking" or "free-speech" is counterproductive to the mission of Kick. Creators and chatters who engage in or promote hate-based speech through slurs or recognized hate-speech language will face enforcement action. ⏎

Our moderation approach is guided by the needs of our global audience and the regulatory standards we uphold. Most definitions of hate-speech involve planning, incitement and calls for action to commit violent acts which could lead to significant harm or loss of life and may target individuals or entire demographic groups. ⏎

We understand context is critical in determining the occurrence of hate-speech. We consider hate-speech to be any commentary which directly or indirectly negatively targets an individual or demographic group with threats of violence, planning or encouragement of harmful action. ⏎

Context is crucial in evaluating hate-speech. Words that may be acceptable in some situations can take on an entirely different meaning depending on the full context. Our aim is to take a considered approach to find balance between supporting free expression while ensuring we maintain a safe space for everyone. ⏎

Hate speech violations include, but are not limited to: ⏎

We are a creator led platform and value responsible freedom of expression. We consider the full context when assessing hate-speech reports including the intent, involvement, reaction and impact behind content. It is important to understand the broader and surrounding circumstances, especially in live streaming, as there are often unforeseen developments and real-time unpredictability. ⏎

Engaging in brigading, abuse, hate-hosting or weaponizing your chat or community against another community. ⏎

We do not permit hate-speech against individuals or groups based on gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability or other demographic identifiers. This includes incitement of violence that could lead to physical harm or death. The intent behind provocative language is considered and it should never be to incite violence. ⏎

Promoting or spreading hate-speech related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, skin colour, religious beliefs, immigration status, disability, age, socio-economic status or any other demographic identifier. ⏎

We encourage creators to foster discussion, expression and creativity while being mindful of how their content might affect others. ⏎

Guideline 5 ⏎

Violence ⏎

There is no deliberate, real-world excessive violence allowed on Kick. Violence can occur in a variety of ways and may or may not include the use of weapons but it often leads to significant injury or harm. Be mindful that competitions, pranks or dares can lead to violence without adequate planning. ⏎

While violence may be contextual and there can be varying degrees of impact, we do not permit content that depicts or incites abhorrent violence including significant harm, suffering or death. We further do not allow malicious trolling, harassment or brigading. ⏎

Graphic depictions of gore and unexpected violence are strictly prohibited during streaming to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all viewers. Such content can be deeply distressing and traumatic, and it undermines the positive and inclusive atmosphere we strive to maintain. If you encounter or witness violent incidents while streaming, refrain from broadcasting these scenes and instead prioritize your safety and the safety of others. Remember to respect the emotional well-being of your audience by avoiding any graphic content that could be considered disturbing. ⏎

No illegal violence against animals will be tolerated. Videos displaying legal hunting practices are permitted. However, graphic, close up and gruesome displays of animal suffering are not allowed. ⏎

Our moderation team carefully evaluates reports of violence by assessing the context including the intent, involvement, reaction and degree of severity. Actions that could be considered violent in certain circumstances may be acceptable with a different context, provided there is positive intent, all participants are willing and reasonable steps are taken to minimize harm and ensure safety. It’s crucial to ensure that any potentially violent content such as stunts are handled responsibly and with consideration. Where the outcome of streamed content displays excessive violence we will take action. ⏎

Clear displays of unwanted aggression which lead to or are likely to lead to harm are not tolerated and harassment of others is not allowed. ⏎

Illegal hunting practices or content showing unnecessary harm to animals is not permitted, however, we do allow streaming of legal hunting and cultural context is considered when assessing reports of violence involving animals. ⏎

Guideline 6 ⏎

Terrorism ⏎

Do not promote, encourage or incite radicalization, terrorism and violent extremism.Those who engage in such behaviour will face strict enforcement actions and possible legal repercussions. ⏎

At Kick, we do not permit any content which incites radicalization, terrorism and/or violent extremism. ⏎

Examples of prohibited actions include, but are not limited to: ⏎

Encouraging or inciting violence against individuals, communities, or institutions based on extremist ideologies. ⏎

Displaying or sharing images, videos, or messages that celebrate acts of terrorism. ⏎

Offering guidance or instructions on how to commit acts of violence or terrorism. ⏎

Promoting or endorsing extremist ideologies. ⏎

We are committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all our users, and we will not tolerate any actions that threaten the well-being and security of our community or society at large through streaming of pro-terrorism content. Violations of this policy will meet swift and severe enforcement measures, and we will fully cooperate with law enforcement authorities to ensure the safety and security of all. ⏎

Self-Harm ⏎

We deeply care about the well-being of our community members, which means we must all work together to maintain a safe and supportive environment. Promoting "self-harm" is prohibited, and such violations will be met with enforcement actions. ⏎

We do not permit content which involves displays of serious and significant self-harm, concerning discussions of self-harm by individuals or genuine encouragement of others to commit self-harm. ⏎

This behaviour includes, but is not limited to: ⏎

While we wholeheartedly allow open dialogue around mental health and well-being, we will not tolerate actions that may cause harm to oneself or individuals in distress. ⏎

Users may encounter content and viewpoints that differ from their beliefs or morals. It is essential to recognize that diverse perspectives contribute to the richness of our community. ⏎

Doxxing ⏎

At Kick, we prioritize the safety and privacy of our community members. We do not permit the sharing or revealing of other users personal, identifiable or confidential information without permission. This includes, but is not limited to addresses, bank account details, family information, places of work or other private information the release of which has not been consented to. Sharing personal information of others during IRL streaming or while streaming chat roulette without their approval is strictly prohibited. ⏎

Be mindful of not sharing personal, identifiable or confidential information of others without their consent as this is strictly prohibited. We prioritize a community of respect, trust and safety and we do not tolerate threats or actions involving the unwanted release of personal information. ⏎

Additionally, we do not tolerate Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks or swatting. DDOS attacks involve overwhelming a user's or creator's online presence with excessive traffic, disrupting their ability to use the platform. Swatting is the dangerous act of making false emergency calls to law enforcement, leading to potentially life-threatening situations for the targeted individual. ⏎

These Community Guidelines are primarily for the benefit of creators, however, moderators and chatters should fundamentally behave in line with these standards. Violations of these Community Guidelines are, by default, a violation of our Terms of Service and this can lead to streaming potentially harmful content. ⏎
We aim to create an environment where everyone can engage with our platform to suit their preferences and we encourage viewers to navigate away from any content or interactions which do not align with their personal values. ⏎
Moderator considerations ⏎
Live streaming, by its nature, is unpredictable. While it's impossible to foresee every outcome, there are several key factors that can lead to adverse content unfolding. ⏎
Our moderation team follows a structured approach to evaluating reported content, considering the full context, including the creator’s reasonable expectations, involvement and reaction alongside the potential risks and outcomes of streams. They carefully assess these factors to determine whether a violation of our Terms of Service has occurred and to what extent. ⏎
Full Context ⏎
Not all situations are the same, context can influence how content is perceived. There can be situations where a scenario can be accepted as true, however, different moderation decisions will result based on the full context of reported content. Whether a creator shows positive or negative intentions, plays minor or major involvement in an incident, their differing reactions to issues and the ranging severity of issues will all influence content moderation. Creators should consider their past issues, the tone of their stream and any external factors impacting their content. ⏎
Intent ⏎
The intent of a creator is difficult to assess, however, there are certain indicators that indicate whether streams are responsibly crafted, aiming for entertainment, education or positive engagement rather than sensationalism or exploitation. When evaluating whether content violates these Guidelines, moderators consider if harmful situations could have been reasonably anticipated. ⏎
Involvement ⏎
The level of a streamer’s involvement in harmful content can vary widely, ranging from negligence to direct engagement in toxic behaviour. For instance, allowing harmful content to be streamed unintentionally due to lack of oversight, constitutes negligence. On the other hand, being actively involved in the participation of content which contravenes these Guidelines is more severe. ⏎
Reaction ⏎
During a live stream, decisions made in the moment can contribute to or help mitigate harmful situations. Creators should make responsible choices while reacting as events unfold. In high risk situations, a prompt reaction may be the difference between preventing a problem, containing an issue or allowing it to escalate. Creators should remain vigilant and consider reactions to unexpected circumstances as quick responses, such as averting the camera, muting inappropriate audio or switching to a neutral screen, can help prevent or reduce streaming harmful material. ⏎
Outcome ⏎
The outcome of actions and output of content is considered when assessing content. Moderators assess what actually transpired and was freely displayed for consumption when considering whether there has been a breach of these Guidelines. Creators are responsible for the content they create and repeated violations can lead to more severe penalties. ⏎

We allow sexually suggestive expressions which are lighthearted but we will take action if content is unfiltered and becomes excessively erotic. Consenting adult creators may stream content with sexually suggestive themes provided it remains appropriate for their audience and does not include nudity, sexual acts or overly sexual elements. ⏎

We do not permit explicit sexual content such as prolonged or overly sexual movements. Display of private body parts including uncovered breasts with exposed nipples or intimate areas is prohibited. Creators should be mindful of camera angles and avoid close-ups of sensitive areas. ⏎

Hate-Speech ⏎
Our moderation approach is guided by the needs of our global audience and the regulatory standards we uphold. Most definitions of hate-speech involve planning, incitement and calls for action to commit violent acts which could lead to significant harm or loss of life and may target individuals or entire demographic groups. ⏎
Context is crucial in evaluating hate-speech. Words that may be acceptable in some situations can take on an entirely different meaning depending on the full context. Our aim is to take a considered approach to find balance between supporting free expression while ensuring we maintain a safe space for everyone. ⏎

While violence may be contextual and there can be varying degrees of impact, we do not permit content that depicts or incites abhorrent violence including significant harm, suffering or death. We further do not allow malicious trolling, harassment or brigading. ⏎

Terrorism ⏎
At Kick, we do not permit any content which incites radicalization, terrorism and/or violent extremism. ⏎

Sharing or promoting content that promotes terrorist organizations or anything that encourages or incites violence based on extremist ideologies is not permitted. This includes offering guidance on how to commit extreme violence, terrorist organization recruitment material and propaganda. Stream titles should abide by the standards set out in this guidance. Streams should be in the most accurate category to reflect the nature of the content being streamed. If content is only suitable for overage audiences then an 18+ label should be applied. ⏎
As an example, we would not be likely to apply channel enforcement action for an IRL stream of a house-party with a banned creator in attendance, where the banned creator remains in the background of the stream, is not directly engaged or the primary focus of the stream. However, we would be likely to apply channel enforcement action where a banned creator is clearly intended to be a primary focus of a stream. ⏎
Channel owners run the risk of having a more severe ban if a suspended creator is permitted to appear on their stream and breaks our Terms of Service. ⏎
